In Today’s News

A two minute-ish, punchy and somewhat abstract track from Richard in July 2009 – inspired (even to this day) by Paul Hardcastle’s Vietnam…man I loved that track!

I have always liked the clever use of samples in certain music and remember clearly the early days of sampling,  and how the music charts ended up getting flooded with bands employing (cough..borrowed) slices of tracks from everyone else.  The Music Industry in the 80’s was continually worried about being sued for copyright infringements and there label artists fuming about precious work being sliced up, and used in this new and radical way.

These days artists will see this as a opportunity to sell there work under license – how things have changed, for the better I think.

Well, this track has a few seconds of news commentary to underpin the subject matter, without which it would not work.  This is not a commercial track but a personal reflection on the news of the day, these days.  It’s a bit raw and unsophisticated but that’s what I wanted.

Btw – all the synth work in this track was done using a vintage Korg MS20 so these little machines still rock!

A Muse Ment

This is the audio track taken from the video of the same name posted within our video Blog for 2009.

Written and performed by Richard in July 2009, this was actaully a busy old day as I recorded the video, wrote the track, and then uploaded everything to You Tube, all in about 10 hours.  Might not seem all that impressive if you’ve done this before but I’m new to all the Video editing software, Apples Logic and You Tube, so all together is was a challenging day.

Anyway, the Video explains what this is about but it’s all been produced from within Logic, other than the Triadex Muse Instrument, which was recorded for only a couple of small parts in the piece.

The track you hear is kept to 2 minutes for the video but a longer version is planned.

Arctic Trek

A lovely track written exclusively on the Korg OASYS by Kent.

The inspiration for this piece came from a desolate but beautiful photograph of the Arctic Tundra that moved him.

The piece has a sweet rhythmical basis and a certain signature chord sequence that is very much Kent’s sound.  It’s a easy listening track with a melody that stays in your head, which is always important in a track and something Kent is very good at.
